I recently returned from a business conference in Spartanburg, SC, and my heart (and brain!) are both full. Spending a few days with fellow virtual assistants that I see several times a month on our “Brady Bunch–style” Zoom calls was such a gift. There’s nothing quite like being in the room together: sharing hugs instead of hand waves, swapping stories over coffee, and cheering each other on in person.
One of the biggest highlights for me was a tech session on AI that absolutely blew my mind! That session really opened my eyes to what’s possible, and I’m excited to keep the momentum going with a special AI course I’ll be starting at the end of October.
When you’re a small business owner, it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind — client work, emails, and that never-ending to-do list. But stepping away from your desk to attend a business conference can do wonders for your growth, creativity, and motivation.
Conferences aren’t just about swapping business cards or sitting through PowerPoints. They’re about connection — meeting other entrepreneurs who get it, sharing ideas, and finding new ways to level up your business with fresh insights and practical takeaways. Plus, there’s something powerful about being in a room full of people who are also chasing big dreams — it’s contagious in the best way. Whether you learn one new tool, make one meaningful connection, or simply get the mental reset you didn’t know you needed, it’s time well spent.
So next time a conference invite crosses your inbox, don’t hit delete. Pack your notebook (and maybe your favorite travel essential!) and go soak up the inspiration. Your business — and your mindset — will thank you.
As for me? I can’t wait to see how this next chapter of learning (hello, AI class!) helps me grow, innovate, and continue finding new ways to support my clients and business even better.
